The Houston Food Bank distributes over 80 million meals annually, but with the devastation of HUrrican Harvey hitting our shores this August, they will be reaching much greater numbers this year. That's why IREM Houston's Community Involvement Committee is calling on our local members to join them in a day of volunteering at this fantastic organization.

In the spirit of supporting our fellow Houstonians and celebrating the growing #GivingTuesday initiative, we have organized an IREM group visit to the Portwall Food Bank facility on November 28th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Projects will include inspection, sorting, and repackaging of donated food items for community distribution.

To sign up for our group effort, please click here. We encourage you to bring your coworkers and colleagues along as well. This effort is all hands on deck!

Plan to arrive at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled volunteer shift so you can check in, receive instructions and start on time.  If you arrive after the start of your shift, you may have to wait up to 30 minutes for orientation and assignment.

    Parking Information

If space permits it, you may park in the front parking lot, but in the event of a large volunteer turnout, you may be directed to our overflow lot located behind the building.

    Attire Information

How to Dress?  Closed-toe shoes REQUIRED - smashed toes are no fun, so we strongly enforce this safety precaution.  Casual dress, long pants (preferred), t-shirt with sleeves.
